WHAT IS “SOFT STRENGTH”?

SOFT STRENGTH PHILOSOPHY

The concept of “Soft” sometimes has a negative connotation when talking about strength. But, if you really think about it, Soft is very powerful. The “Soft Sciences” refers to the humanities. As we are experiencing in our society, the hard sciences is about the technical solutions and innovations, but the soft sciences are all about how it will impact society, asking questions like, “Is this productive or harmful to society?” The “Soft Skills” in the workplace refer to one’s ability to communicate effectively, being easy to get along with, etc. Having a “Softer Approach” generally refers to being more patient, having less anger, showing more compassion, and displaying more empathy - now why would someone want that? To get better results, of course!
So our mission at Austin Kung-Fu Academy is to lean into the idea of Soft Strength, and help each other develop it along our training journey!
Our 3 Core methods:
1. Relaxed Power - we learn to keep our body very loose, and move like a whip.
2. Blending Defense - we develop the ability to go with the flow of the energy presented to us. From there, we can decide what to do next.
3. Rope Dart - this is the most flexible weapon in Kung-Fu, and trains
students to be patient, how to fail but not give up, and develop the love of
practicing.
What we do is a lot of fun, very engaging, and no experience is necessary.
