We have age specific classes for kids, to meet the learning styles for each age group. Please read the descriptions for each class below. We are dedicated to bringing out the best Kung-Fu energy from your child!
We do a FREE TRIAL CLASS for each child, where they get to try out a class. In the class, we introduce them to some of our basic techniques and positions. If it goes well, they can then register for our One Week Trial for $19.95. The One Week Trial includes 1 week of classes, and they get their official Austin Kung-Fu Academy T-shirt! To schedule this Free Trial Class, all you have to do is
5-6 Year Olds Classes
Mondays at 4pm; Tuesdays & Thursdays at 4:30pm; Saturdays at 9:30am
This program was specifically designed to target the stages of development of 5 and 6 year olds. We help them develop Focus, Control, Teamwork, Discipline, Coordination, and Balance. As they are learning the foundations of Kung-Fu and Martial Arts movements, they are also learning to follow directions and perform with their body strength! With our coaching, combined with the encouragement from the grown-ups in their life, these kids wind up developing some amazing skills!
7-8 Years Olds Classes
Mondays at 4:30pm; Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5pm; Saturdays at 10am
Kids who are 7 and 8 years old are at an age where the more special they feel, the harder they will try. This age group is eager to please, and are coached on giving their absolute best performance, channeling all of their energy into their moves! We teach them how to regulate their energy in 3 modes, and how to clear their minds right before they give their best, all-out execution of Kung-Fu movements. While they are developing an immense amount of personal empowerment, they are also learning the other side of it: what it means to be a good citizen, how to help others, show kindness, treat others with respect, and to be patient & resilient.
9-12 YEARS OLDS CLASSES
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:30pm; Saturdays at 10:30am
Children between 9-12 years old are in a very important stage in their life. There are a lot of changes going on with them, and we strive to be positive role models for them. We help them find their voice through Kung-Fu. This is an age where they become very aware of their peers, and themselves in relation to their peers. We help them to get the courage to try, to be okay with making mistakes, and, how to perform to the best of their abilities. We teach them important self defense concepts, how to deal with bullies, and how to use "self-talk" to coach themselves on not giving up, and bring out their best possible performance. We also talk about what it means to be humble, what it means to be a good sport, and how we can be of service to others.
