We have a unique approach to martial arts. Our Kung-Fu training is philosophy in motion. A thorough understanding of the 5 different principles can help you in all aspects of daily living.

4. Wind is your ability to adapt to changes.
5. The Void is your ability to wait.

If you’ve ever seen the show “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, you have heard some of this before. If not, welcome to a new way of understanding your personal power. Each of these elements is a portal into a whole universe of self defense movements, each with its own philosophy. All are useful! Our goal is to train you in all the methodologies. Kung-Fu is not just physical self defense, it is also an art of mental cultivation. We want you to have the training to be able to effectively respond to the diverse situations that you encounter in life.

GETTING STARTED:
—We have classes for 5-6 Year Olds, 7-8 Year Olds, 9-12 Year Olds, Teens, and Adults. Here’s how to get started:
1. Our process is to have you try out a class, to see how it goes.
2. If it does go well, then you do a 1 Week Trial for $19.95, where you can do one more class.
3. If that also goes well, then you can officially enroll into our program, and start working towards earning colored belts (sashes) in our school.

Training Format
We do In-Person classes at Inishfree School of Irish Dance (4631 Airport Blvd, #110a, Austin, TX 78751). All of our classes are live-streamed, in case you want to train but can’t come in-person.

KIDS CLASSES (IN-PERSON* + Live-Streamed)

Our kids classes are age specific. We have separate classes for 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds, and 9-12 year olds.

We teach them how to be powerful. We also teach them how to control their power. We emphasize being able to work with each other.

Not only will they learn self defense techniques, and get physical exercise, the development of their ability to work together is also a vital self defense skill. Communication is key.

Our classes are a lot of fun, as we work on learning how to do the techniques, then practice being able to use the techniques. It is all about improving ourselves and each other.

Once they become Youth Black Belts, they get to learn the traditional Kung-Fu weapons, which are so much fun! Some of them they’ve seen before in movies and shows, and some they may not have ever seen before! They learn about the unique history of how each type of weapon was developed.

ADULTS CLASSES (In-Person + Live-Streamed)

No experience is necessary! Our primary style of Kung-Fu is called Choy Lee Fut. But, we mix in techniques and methodologies from a variety of martial arts styles. In addition to the self defense techniques and the physical fitness aspects, it is the collaborative artistry that makes this a very unique and holistic experience.

We’d like for you to try a class for free, to get a taste of what it is we do.

If that goes well, then we have you do a 1 Week Trial for $19.95, so that you can try another class. If that also goes well, then you’re ready to become an official member of Austin Kung-Fu Academy, and earn the various colored belts (in Kung-Fu, we actually use sashes, but we still call them belts).

Every quarter, we put on a Kung-Fu movie night, where we show an edited version of an old-school Kung-Fu film (edited to be family-friendly), and before we show the film, we open the event with some of our students doing performances of the Kung-Fu sequences they’ve been practicing. It’s a lot of fun!

The training is a lot of fun, and can be the perfect way for you to be physical in an “alternative” way.
